Who we are

About Us

I am hope guatemala

Why is what I am Hope Guatemala does so essential? Let's explain.

Violence against women and children in Guatemala has become perpetuated as a tool of subordination and control of women’s and children’s lives. The patriarchal and conservative culture and a fragile judicial security system generate impunity in these cases. This problem also affects their education and trajectories of future work, profoundly altering their lives and their families.
Violence against women and children is one of the most complex social issues of our time. Along with violence, this scenario comes accompanied by poverty, malnourishment, deplorable living conditions, and exposure to drugs, impacting negatively every aspect of life from childhood through adulthood. Over 60 percent of families in Guatemala live in poverty; without your help, poor mothers and children victims of violence will suffer violence in adulthood.
By working together, we will change lives, build long-term programs that will help single mothers and their children become psychologically and emotionally stable. They will get an education and build confidence to create a better future for themselves and their families.
